Two From Sunnyvale

Survive: Palm and birch tree barks, leaves and dried petals; cancelled stamp, corrugated box paper, magazine paper.

Fossil: Collage of recycled mono type of Mazon Creek fossils in Illinois from the Phanerozoic Eon, Paleozoic Era and Pennsylvania Period; cuttings from magazine and envelope lining.

Two amazing postcards from C. Rizzuto of Sunnyvale, CA. I love the many-layered primeval nature of these postcards!

Puzzle

I had fun piecing together six postcards received from Bonnie Smith of San Jose, California. On the back of each one she wrote, "One piece of a puzzle of my first water color painting." They all arrived at once and at first I thought they were cool abstract paintings. But then I started putting them together and voila! A lovely watercolor. Thank you, Bonnie!

Calibration

Here is a lovely subtle postcard from NCWCA artist, Mary Shisler, of Oakland, CA. She writes that the card is made from 300 gr. Wm Turner H2O injet paper. She adds that the print is a test for calibration and color from a Roland HiFi 500 printer. What a great use of test paper! I also love the faint orange post office mark running along the bottom.

A wonderful translucent package arrived in my mailbox. Inside was an amazing card made by artist Allicette Torres from New York. She writes, "Crater surface was found in trash, proclamation sheet is a used toilet seat cover, pen was found in street, paper with color marks (makes the saucer & beam of light) are scraps of test paper from the art store, the pushpins are held in place by old pencil erasers. Thank you, Allicette, for making this recycled card!

I received a comment from Allicette re the "Proclamation." She translated it as:
"Proclamation to Planet Earth. Since you are not Martians, you do not have the option of evacuating the planet if you destroy it." She also mentioned the translucent case was also a recycled case. Thank you for following up, Allicette!
